Beacon House runs on the commitment of people who believe that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild their life. There are several ways you can be part of that.
Spending time with our Guests is one of the most important things our volunteers do. For many of our Guests, being genuinely listened to is something they have rarely experienced. Sitting with someone over a cup of tea and giving them your time may be the most valuable thing a volunteer does.
There are no age restrictions and no particular background required. The best volunteers are those with a genuine interest in people and a willingness to give them time.
Volunteering requires a commitment of at least one day per week. Full training and support are provided in all aspects of the work.
At Beacon House, our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Every
conversation, every meal served, every clean towel given out — it all helps restore dignity, build trust, and bring hope to those experiencing homelessness in our community.
We are a welcoming day centre, open Monday to Friday, supporting people with
their most basic needs — from food and showers to practical help and emotional support. But more than anything, we offer a place where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
And that’s where you come in.
Volunteering at Beacon House is about so much more than completing tasks — it’s about connection.
Many of our Guests face isolation, rejection, and hardship. One of the most powerful things you can offer is your time, your kindness, and your willingness to listen.
As a volunteer, you will:
No special experience is needed — just a willingness to get involved and a heart to support others.
We ask volunteers to commit to:
In return, we provide:
If you’re looking for a way to make a difference in your community, we would love to hear from you.
Whether you have practical skills to offer, time to give, or simply a heart to serve — there is a place for you at Beacon House.
