Beacon House was founded in 1996 and from the very beginning, our purpose has been the same: not simply to serve a need, but to transform lives.
Our Day Centre in Colchester, Essex, is open Monday to Friday and provides a warm, cheerful welcome. It is a place where people who are often excluded from the wider community can find a genuine sense of belonging, without judgement or preconceptions.
Each year we walk alongside between 400 and 500 individuals on their own unique journey towards a better, more secure future. On any given day the Day Centre is a busy, purposeful place: our cafe full, our healthcare centre in use, our team working alongside Guests on everything from housing applications to budgeting, from health to skills for life. It takes a dedicated team of paid staff and volunteer staff to make that possible, and we are proud of every one of them.
We are here for people who want to engage and change their lives. Our approach is simple: we will walk the journey with you. Irrespective of background or circumstances, our goal is the same for every person who comes through our doors: to move from a position of being stuck to living a self-fulfilled, independent life. And we do that together.
Beacon House is a way station, not a destination. We deliberately call those who come to us Guests. They are invited, welcomed, and supported as they pass through this point in their journey of life and onwards to a better future. We celebrate every success, and there are many.
If you would like to be part of that, whether as a volunteer, a donor, or a supporter, we would love to hear from you.
Volunteer staff are central to everything we do at Beacon House from working with our Guests to fundraising to support this vital work. Without you, the Day Centre simply could not function the way it does, and we could raise the money needed to deliver the high-quality services that make a real difference to individuals and ultimately our community.
If you would like to be part of the team, we would love to hear from you. Email office@beaconhouseministries.org.uk to request an application form.
